Game 11 - Bolton Villas (Away)
Date July 1st 2006
After a series of setbacks it was vital that Ilkley got something from this game and 4 points out of a possible 6 were much deserved.
Captain Quaife led from the front coming in at 110-6 he smashed the ball to all parts of the ground and was ably assisted by Andy Rhodes who weighed in with a very useful 46.
Ilkley had struggled early on with Phil Sant out in the first over and Cocky perishing on 3. Santy Lad and Bails dug in though and Santy was unlucky to be caught off a bump ball for 28
Wickets fell at a steady rate until Guppy and Rhodsey Lad took the game away from Bolton Villas, putting on a hundred runs before Guppy was caught behind.
A few more runs were added before The ICC were all out for 226
Rhodsey and Dickie again caused problem with the new ball and after 12 overs Villas were 34-3. Cocky was first change and bowled well to snare 3 victims and Guppy came on at the other end and bowled excellently picking two wickets up in the process.
The Number 10 for Bolton Villas came in and caused Captain Quaife a headache, smashing the returning opening bowlers everywhere on his way to 49 and number 11 clung on at the end to secure the home side 2 points.
The lads were happy to get back to winning ways and Guppy should be proud of his days work, a real Captains innings. However, The ICC are going to have to be more ruthless in killing teams off.
Next up, Dingham away.
